The ultimate business travel wardrobe

When you’re jet-setting around here, there and everywhere, your wardrobe needs to play ball and provide comfort and convenience whilst keeping you on your toes from a fashion-forward perspective. Here are the staple items that our female business traveller’s put their faith in when they’re on the go:

The High-Waisted Culotte-trousers

If, like us, you find yourself looking for the closest thing to pyjamas to wear at work (Monday morning anyone?), get yourself a pair of high waisted culotte-trousers. Effortless and cool, pair them with any style of blouse and your good to go. Whether you opt for the of-the-moment jazzy plisse trousers, or those with a more classic, tailored cut and fabric, these are so comfy we guarantee you’ll be thoroughly converted to the ‘pyjama’ wardrobe by the time you’ve débuted them at work.

Topshop’s the place to go for workwear culottes, with various styles in plain black and many more in different colours to form the perfect base to any outfit.

The White Blouse

Now everyone knows the versatility of a white shirt, but have you appreciated the endless possibilities of the white blouse? With plenty of different cuts, fabrics, sleeves and designs – the blouse is the ‘just a little bit different’ version of the boring white shirt. This season, there’s plenty to choose from, with an irresistible craze for frills and bell sleeves to add a feminine touch to any outfit.

Zara’s summer 2017 collection features blouses in whites and pastel hues with plenty of over-the-top frills guaranteed to brighten up any outfit.

The Smart Sandals

Now it’s July, we are well and truly in the midst of British summertime. So don’t kid yourself – you’re going to need footwear that’s cool and comfortable in the heat –  after all, why feel restricted to hot and stuffy footwear? We’re not suggesting you sport beachy footwear to the office, but a smart pair made of leather in dark colours will look super smart with your work wardrobe. However, stay away from espadrille-style footwear or anything with canvas or cork materials to avoid looking too much like your anticipating a Spanish fiesta anytime soon.

Office, Whistles and Clarks cover the whole smart sandals spectrum, stocking everything from super comfy to fashion-forward.

The Shirt Dress

From day to night, workwear to casual wear, invest in a summer shirt dress and we guarantee it’ll work as hard as you do to keep you looking effortlessly cool and comfy whilst always appearing formal. Choose colours that suit you and you’re on to a winner. Plus, just about anywhere stocks shirt dresses in all prints and patterns if you’re feeling like going for something bold and bright.

If you’re looking to invest in a shirt dress that’ll become the core of your summer work wardrobe, head to Jigsaw for some beautiful pieces that’ll look fabulous time and time again. For something a little less expensive, New Look stock some gorgeous shirt dresses that rival those stocked in many high-end brands!

The Throw-Over-Anything Jacket

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to workwear jackets (you’ve got to opt for whatever suits your style and the changeable weather) but as it’s summer, we suggest choosing something light and neutral to throw over any outfit. A classic trench coat is an obvious choice, it’s light as a feather and utterly timeless, particularly in the classic Burberry beige hue. If you’re looking for something that’s more tailored, the longline blazer in navy or black will compliment any workwear ensemble, although be wary of the cut – make sure it’s flattering and fitted to avoid the 80’s oversized shoulder-pad look.

Whistles and Reiss stocks some stunning workwear jackets this season, although be prepared to invest, they are most definitely a ‘buy nice or buy twice’ purchase.
