With so many new bars, restaurants, cafes and shops opening in London all the time, it can be quite a conundrum deciding which ones to try. This can be exacerbated further if you’re only in the capital for a short period of time. Luckily, we’ve got our finger on the pulse and these are the hottest spots for eating, drinking and shopping in London. All brand new on the scene.
Coya Angel Court
Joining the ranks of Coya’s Mayfair, Dubai and Miami locations is its new opening right in the heart of The City. Coya Angel Court is guaranteed to be a success, with its modern take on Peruvian cuisine, coupled with a pisco bar. Light and airy, as well as colourful and chic, Coya transports you halfway across the world and offers up fascinating touches that capture your attention. Whether you’re interested in trying the fresh flavours of ceviche, enjoying a hearty steak or are tempted by the Instagram-worthy pisco sour, complete with Coya logo across the top, this new opening won’t disappoint.
Duck & Waffle Local
If you fancy the Duck & Waffle experience without the pomp and ceremony, then its more laid back cousin is just the place for you. Situated in St James’s Market, as opposed to the 40th floor of the Heron Building, Duck & Waffle Local serves up the same food, but in a chilled-out atmosphere. Order all your ducky dishes at the counter and then return to your table, where they will be brought to you. With cocktails on tap and wine served from casks, you can wash your meal down with something interesting.
Dr Martens Camden Market
As well as being able to buy boots and shoes from the iconic footwear brand, Dr Martens’ new Camden Market shop offers so much more. You can personalise your purchases or take a virtual tour of the factory without leaving this stripped-back space. It has also collaborated with Marshall amps to create an on-site gig space – surely the perfect place to show off your new boots and rock out?! It’s an evolution of the Dr Martens brand that seems incredibly natural.
If you’re in The City for work and find you don’t have a lot of time to enjoy its many restaurants and cafes, Yolk could be the answer. Offering the perfect eggs benedict to take away, there’s no excuse not to have a proper breakfast to start the day. Pair it with Black Box Coffee and you’re good to go. Alternatively, choose one of Yolk’s ultimate sandwiches, featuring ingredients as decadent as pulled confit duck and caramelised balsamic vinegar. If you do have time to linger, tuck into a poached egg pot, with variations inspired by traditional recipes around the world. Find it in Finsbury Avenue Square.
There’s nothing better than a rooftop bar in London when the sun dares to shine and this newest addition to the scene in Wapping has all the ingredients for a perfect summer’s day. An old car park in Tobacco Dock has been converted into a venue styled on a British lawn club. This means that over three stories, you can enjoy croquet, petanque and even lawn bowls while sipping on a cocktail or summery spritz from one of the bars.
