Reward yourself for a busy Christmas with a January getaway

Plan a break in London for the New Year and let all the stresses of Christmas melt away.

With only a few days to go, it’s safe to say that we’re all in the midst of the stress and preparations for Christmas. It’s an exciting time of year, but with all the lovely presents, parties and food comes the organisation and pressure to get it all right. Before you wrap the umpteenth gift or accidentally stick festive paper to the cat, take a step back and do something for yourself.

In contrast to December, January can be a bit flat and while it’s something of a relief that things have calmed down, it’s also nice to have plans. Book yourself a stay at one of London’s stunning serviced apartments to reward yourself for all the effort you’ve put in over the festive period. If you’re still not quite convinced, here are a few reasons why you should:

There’s always something going on in London

Despite January being devoid of entertainment in many parts of the country that’s not the case in London. The capital is an exciting place to be all year round, with museums and galleries to discover, as well as shows and activities to pique everyone’s interest. Special events in January include the London International Mime Festival, which begins on the 9th, and the Magic Lantern Festival, where more than 50 illuminations will light up the sky from the 19th.

Dine for less

After a busy Christmas period, many restaurants find it hard to get people through the door in January, as we all tighten our belts. This means there’s loads of great deals around to get money off meals, saving you a fortune. London has such a wide variety of cuisine on offer that you can travel the world without leaving the capital. Make the most of the January slump and you’ll find it much easier to get a much-sought after table at a top class restaurant.

Something to look forward to

While you’re trying to juggle all the different pans bubbling away on the stove on Christmas Day and hoping that you put the right tag on the right parcel, it’s good to have something to look forward to. Skip ahead a couple of weeks and it will just be you and your nearest and dearest – that does not mean extended family – in a lovely serviced apartment, getting cosy and planning out some you time together. Bliss!

A change of scenery

If you’ve been hosting family at your house, then they probably feel like they’ve had a bit of a holiday, but you’ve been at home the whole festive period. Not only have you not had a change of scenery, but it’s been your responsibility to prepare the house for your guests, making sure they had everything they needed throughout their stay, not to mention all the tidying up again afterwards. Get away from the memory of all that and enjoy a stay in an immaculate serviced apartment, without any wrapping paper in sight.

A quick getaway

After the excesses and exhaustion of Christmas, you probably don’t want to go far, which is why a staycation is a great idea. Depending on where you live in the UK, London may be just a few hours away by car, train or plane, so make this relatively small journey, but experience a world of difference in your surroundings, mood and outlook for 2017.
