If you are staying in one of the serviced apartments in London this summer, then you have a great opportunity. Being based in The City is even better, as at this time of year, you can really make the most of this stunning location. When the sun is shining, you can enjoy the landmarks, outdoor spaces and alfresco dining attractions to your heart’s content.
For those who do not know The City well, here are some of the things you might want to spend your summer days or evenings doing while you’re in town.
Take a Thames river cruise
The River Thames marks the southern boundary of The City of London and is a fab way to enjoy a sunny day. See a wide range of London attractions from the waterway or book yourself onto a special cruise featuring lunch, afternoon tea, sundowners or dinner. Alternatively, there are even options that allow you to enjoy live music and entertainment from a boat on the river. The possibilities are seemingly endless…
Indulge in an outdoor lunch
A picnic is one of the simplest of pleasures in life and can easily be slotted into your working day between meetings and getting tasks completed. There are a number of nice spaces in The City where you can enjoy your lunch outside. For example, you could sit in front of St Paul’s Cathedral or find a quiet spot in Postman’s Park to tuck into your goodies.
If there weather forecast is good for the following day, you can use the kitchen at your serviced apartment to prepare a delicious picnic. Alternatively, stop by a branch of Paul for an upmarket French-inspired packed lunch. Inside your reusable cool bag, you’ll find a sandwich or salad per person, a packet of hand-cooked crisps and a soft drink. Also provided is a box of mini macaroons and a gingham-patterned paper tablecloth to make your picnic complete. You’ll find Paul outlets all over The City, including at St Paul’s, Fleet Street and Bow Lane.
Hit a beer garden
Nothing says the great British summertime like heading to a beer garden to drink a few pints and soak up some rays. If you’re heading out straight after work in The City, then you’re bound to find many of your fellow businessmen and women at The Fence in Farringdon. This split-level patio features parasols and plants to add to its charm. Alternatively, check out the Coq d’Argent’s impressive roof garden to take things up a notch.
Enjoy some outdoor cinema
Make your way to the Guildhall Yard between the 5th and 11th of August and you may be rewarded with an outdoor screening of some of the movie industry’s most classic films. As a pastime that is usually enjoyed within the confines of a dark cinema, it’s fantastic to watch a big screen outside on a pleasant summer’s evening. Expect to see the likes of Dirty Dancing, Romeo and Juliet and Pulp Fiction on the bill.
Eating outside is a lovely idea during warmer weather and something that is only really viable in the summer months in The City.
