Here at SACO, we’ve just opened our brand new serviced apartments on Cannon Street. It is an exciting time for us and is the culmination of plenty of work and research to ensure that we get everything just spot on. So much attention to detail has gone into every aspect of the new opening, including the location. So why was Cannon Street chosen as the best place for these new apartments in The City of London?
A sense of history
The City of London is where modern day London grew from and Cannon Street is right at its heart. It’s always been an important thoroughfare and has had its name changed more than 60 times throughout its history, being shortened from the original Candelwrichstrete Street until finally its current incarnation was born.
Cannon Street is not insubstantial in length, stretching 0.5 miles from St Paul’s Churchyard outside the cathedral, running east to meet Queen Victoria Street, then King William and Gracechurch streets near Monument Tube station. It is still home to the historic London Stone, which can be seen at number 111 and is thought to date back to Roman times.
Right in the heart of The City
The City is a fantastic place to be based and can be particularly handy for business travellers. Many of the UK’s top businesses have offices in the area and it is a really useful location to be in for anyone looking to increase their contacts. Being able to walk to meetings is a real bonus and Cannon Street is near to a number of great facilities.
For those spending leisure time in London, Cannon Street is also a good choice, as you can step out of your serviced apartment and be right in the heart of things. Famous sights, such as St Paul’s Cathedral and the Monument to the Great Tower of London are right on your doorstep and across the river is London Bridge, with all the attractions it brings.
Fantastic transport links
Cannon Street has its own Overground and Underground station, connecting it to the rest of London and the wider region. This makes it easy to get to wherever you need to be, either during your visit or when it comes to an end and it’s time to return to Kings Cross or Euston, for example.
Handy for bars and restaurants
When it comes to wining and dining, there are plenty of places close to Cannon Street. If you have clients to impress, then The Don on nearby St Swithin’s Lane is the perfect choice. Alternatively, you can grab a meal on Cannon Street itself with branches of popular chains, such as Leon, present. Meanwhile, it’s always good to know where you can get a curry locally and The India Restaurant comes highly recommended.
Among the venues close by that are good for client events are Skinner’s Hall and Gibson Hall, meaning you can organise meetings not far from your serviced apartment and in style.
